Meet the Therapist

We’ve both found our way here, and I honor this crossing of paths with gratitude.

“Vulnerability is not weakness; it’s our greatest measure of courage.”

Liv Szeliga, MA, LPCC

My name is Liv Szeliga, MA, LPCC, and I offer you a deep, heartfelt welcome to the Sanctuary. Let me tell you a little bit about my practice.

My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, person-centered perspective and informed by narrative and psychodynamic frameworks. Together, we will explore the patterns, experiences, and stories that have shaped your life while cultivating greater insight, emotional awareness, and meaningful change.

I integrate a range of approaches including mindfulness, somatic awareness, creative exploration, and experiential practices to support deeper reflection and sustainable growth. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, our work will gently explore the underlying experiences, relationships, and narratives that influence how you understand yourself and move through the world.

At the heart of my work is the belief that healing unfolds through connection, curiosity, and compassion. Therapy becomes a collaborative space where insight can deepen, new perspectives can emerge, and a more authentic relationship with yourself and others can begin to take shape.

  • Today, Psyche Sanctuary is based out of a wonderful group practice: Elevated Counseling and Wellness.  Elevated is a private group practice based in Denver, Colorado and committed to offering high-quality, trauma-informed care.

Here, I have the privilege of working alongside a community of clinicians who are intentionally dedicated to supporting your unique healing and growth. Together, we strive to create spaces that feel warm, welcoming, and openhearted.

We would love to have you join us!

  • As part of the latter half of my clinical training, I had the meaningful opportunity to practice at the Denver-based Center for Resilience Strategies. CRS is a private-group practice dedicated to supporting individuals navigating life’s challenges and cultivating resilience in the face of emotional adversity.

During my time there, I offered outpatient psychotherapy to adults (18+) under licensed supervision, working alongside individuals with diverse clinical presentations—including anxiety, depression, suicidality, and complex trauma related to childhood abuse and domestic violence. From week to week, clients and I explored the landscapes of their inner worlds, gently beginning the work of repair, alignment, and embodiment. Together, we laid the foundations for meaningful change through curiosity, compassion, and collaborative exploration.

Through consultation and supervision, I deepened my clinical skills and expanded my understanding of several frameworks with an ongoing prioritization of trauma-informed care. I was also fortunate to pursue additional training in approaches such as DBT and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy integration, which broadened my perspective on supporting clients in the integration of meaningful emotional and psychological experiences.

  • As part of my clinical training, I was gifted the life-changing opportunity to facilitate therapeutic support groups at WINGS Foundation.  WINGS is an incredible organization dedicated to serving and building systems of support for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and their loved ones.

Over the course of more than six months, I led weekly two-hour groups that deepened my trauma-informed practice through direct engagement with individuals healing from the impacts of physical and emotional violence.  Together, we built foundational skills for distress tolerance, cultivated rich interpersonal relationships, and held space for the challenging and painful complexities of the human experience.

I continue to be touched by the individuals whose paths I crossed, astounded by their resilience, wisdom, compassion, and courage.  Though I am no longer part of the WINGS team, I carry forward the lessons of patience, humility, acceptance, attunement, and reverence for each person’s unique journey and inherent worth. My time at WINGS has made me not only a more grounded and empathetic counselor, but also a more understanding and wholehearted human being.

  • In 2021, I graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Political Science. My undergraduate studies opened my eyes to the complexities of systems, structures, and the ways society, culture, and identity shape human experience.

Through coursework in gender and sexuality, race and ethnicity, social psychology, and inequality, I deepened my understanding of concepts such as intersectionality, power, privilege, and belonging. These studies continue to inform my clinical practice today—grounding my work in cultural humility, systemic awareness, and respect for each person’s lived experience.

In therapy, this means recognizing how every client is situated within a broader social and cultural context that shapes how they see themselves, relate to others, and navigate the world. I strive to create a space that honors these intersecting identities while supporting each client in developing greater self-understanding, agency, and connection.

  • In 2025, I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University in Denver. The MAC program provided a comprehensive foundation in evidence-based theory and practice through rigorous academics and extensive hands-on experience at the university’s on-site counseling training clinic.

My coursework included, but was not limited to, Therapeutic Theories; Therapeutic Techniques I and II; Crisis, Trauma, and Loss; Grief Therapy and Life Transitions; Cultural Issues and Social Justice; Human Growth and Development; Spirituality and Counseling; and Assessment, Diagnosis, and Treatment Planning.

Beyond my studies, supervision, and clinical training, my time at Regis instilled in me a deep awareness and appreciation for the healing nature of authentic connection. As Irvin Yalom, MD, reminds us,“It is the relationship that heals.” Through deep and meaningful connection with my mentors and professors, classmates and colleagues, and perhaps above all, my clients, I have borne witness to the transformative power of being seen, heard, and valued.  Today, I carry this essence of compassionate connection into my work, honoring it as the cornerstone of healing and growth.
